She is passionate about supporting individuals to communicate with confidence and has a special interest in Parkinson’s disease, delivering evidence-based programs to strengthen voice and maintain connection to everyday life.

She brings a strong foundation in health care and patient support to her role.  The Speech Support Specialist plays a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-informed communication support programs for individuals with Parkinson’s disease.

Working under the guidance of a Speech Pathologist, the Speech Support Specialist supports clients to build, maintain, and generalise communication skills through structured therapy programs, including Voice Strong & SPEAK OUT!.

This role is integral to ensuring clients receive consistent, engaging, and functional therapy support across their care journey.

Speech Support Specialists:

  • Deliver structured communication and voice exercises as prescribed by the Speech Pathologist 
  • Support implementation of Voice Strong and Parkinson’s communication programs like SPEAK OUT!
  • Facilitates carryover and generalisation of skills into everyday communication 
  • Assist with group therapy sessions and maintenance programs.

Client Support & Engagement

A Speech Support Specialist:

  • Provides encouragement, motivation, and coaching to maximise client participation.
  • Builds strong therapeutic relationships with clients and families. 
  • Supports clients to achieve functional communication goals (e.g., being heard, participating in conversations, maintaining independence).

  • Record session notes and track client progress 
  • Provide feedback to the supervising Speech Pathologist 
  • Assist with outcome measure tracking and program data collection.

  • Work closely with the Speech Pathologist to ensure safe and effective therapy delivery 
  • Participate in team meetings and program development

  •  Work under the supervision and delegation of a qualified Speech Pathologist 
  • Does not independently assess, diagnose, or prescribe therapy 
  • Delivers therapy tasks and programs as directed 
  • Supports implementation—not clinical decision-making
  • Maintain clear communication regarding client progress and any concerns

 At your first appointment, we will:

  • Talk about your communication concerns
  • Complete a voice and speech assessment
  • Set meaningful goals together
  • Develop a personalised therapy plan

Your Therapy Journey

 Your therapy will focus on:

  • Strengthening your voice
  • Improving clarity
  • Building confidence
  • Supporting communication in everyday life

Home Practice

 Daily practice is a key part of your progress.

We’ll guide you through a simple, structured routine to support your voice between sessions. We will provide you with all the tools necessary, all you have to do is be consistent in your daily practice and always use your purposeful voice when speaking.

Tracking Your Progress

 We will track your progress using:

  • Voice measurements
  • Communication confidence
  • Functional participation
  • Self / Family/ Friend Reporting
  • Video Monitoring (check ins)

This helps ensure your therapy is meaningful and effective.
